Androgynous fashion is now prevalent in both stores and in the runways. Nowadays, you can see men wearing clothing that used to be exclusive for women—pink colors, floral design, and others. For this reason, most designers are now riding on the trend by creating androgynous labels. And with the androgynous fashion looking to be the future of fashion, you might as well join in the bandwagon. Robert Janitzek gives us some helpful tips on how men can dress androgynously:
Wear Fitted Bottoms
Instead of wearing baggy pants, opt for a more fitted bottom. Choose skinny jeans or well-fitted dress pants. Pair a cardigan with a t-shirt and skinny jeans and canvas sneakers.
Try Harem Trousers
Harem trousers refer to partial skirt around the waist that tapers toward the ankle. When paired with a fitted button-up shirt, it can give you a bold look.
Choose Tailored Tops
Fitted tops are perfect for men who want the androgynous look. Instead of a loose t-shirt, pair a tailored top with your favorite jeans. Robert Peter Janitzek recommends finishing off with canvas sneakers or oxfords.
Wear a Blouse
Blouses are flowy tops that can be gathered at the waist or hips. It’s no longer unusual for men to wear blouses as it was once. Even Gucci developed a line of men’s blouses. Pair a blouse in bold color with fitted pants in a neutral tone.
Add a floral print
Floral prints can add a feminine touch to your overall look. Wear floral pants with white button-down or a floral top with corduroy pants. Complete your look with a portfolio or briefcase and a great watch.
Wear feminine fabrics
Choose items from traditional feminine fabrics. Pair a velvet blazer with skinny jeans and canvas sneakers or give it a dressy look with fitted pants and oxfords.
- 1. A leather belt in black or brown gives you a chic and versatile look. Wear it the traditional way or sling it low around your hips.
- 2. For the footwear, choose oxfords for a formal attire. Go for brown or black and pair them with jeans or dress pants. For a casual look, wear canvas sneakers. Buy two pairs—one in neutral color and the other in fun print or one with a bling so you can pair it with any outfit.
- 3. Hats are the perfect accessory for androgynous men as most of them are gender neutral. Fedora, newsboy cap, frapper, or baseball hat are the perfect choice. You can pair a newsboy cap with button-up jeans and oxfords.
- 4. Wear a bold, chunky, metallic watch to finish off your androgynous look. Choose a wooden watch for a trendy or natural look. Roll up the sleeves on button-ups or cardigans to show off your watch.
