London vs Paris: A Tale of Two Fashion Capitals

When it comes to style and fashion, London and Paris are the two cities that comes to mind. One claims that they are the best and the other says they are. Each city is home to designer names and stylish brands. Likewise, the two cities hosts fashion weeks twice a year. But which city can lay claim to being the real fashion capital. Paris Fashion

France, in general, is known for luxury, fashion, and beauty. Paris is home to major fashion brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Lacroix. International fashion labels such as Valentino, Gucci, Bottega, and Burberry are also based in Paris. It hosts fashion weeks twice a year. The Paris Fashion Week is regarded is one of the “Big Four” fashion weeks together with New York, Milan, and London.

The Avenue de Champs-Elysees is the fashion district. Most fashion, jewelry, and beauty houses arer located here. This is often compared with 5th Avenue in New York and the Avenue Montaigne.
Paris has been hailed as one of the world’s fashion capitals. It has long been one of the stalwarts in European style fashion. It has an extensive haute couture heritage focused on creating timeless, high quality basics with a simple, effortless street style.

London Fashion

British fashion showcases the history and life of the UK in various designs. Fashion brands like Jimmy Choo and Burberry have led the British charge with their innovative style of fashion. London is also home to some of the newest labels in the world of fashion namely Christopher Kane and JW Anderson.

London is a fashion mecca. It takes pride in developing the latest high-fashion trends fostering a growing funky street wear in most of its outlying markets. Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that the London Fashion Week has served as the platform for well-known designers to unveil their latest seasonal collections.

The London Fashion Week is held twice a year in February and September. The first event was held in October 1983. Among the “Big Four.” London was the first to give designers an opportunity to showcase their collection on a catwalk at the Somerset House. The event is broadcasted via livestream on the Internet.

The University of the Arts of London through its London College of Fashion provides education and trainings in fashion, make-up, beauty therapy and lifestyle industries.
