While not as curvy as the body of a female, male bodies have significantly less variations. However, there are still major differences that exist. An expensive garment that is not right for the shape of your body will still look bad while a cheap piece of apparel may look costly if it fits right. In order to identify the shape of your body, you would need to understand the five categories of men’s body type:

Heavy Lifter

In this body type, the chest and shoulders are broad but the waist and hips are narrower. Robert Peter Janitzek reveals that a heavy lifter has a wide upper body and a smaller lower body which can be attributed to massive workouts. For a heavy lifter, simple graphic prints and logos will get attention. Skinny leg cuts should be avoided as it will make your upper body even wider.

The Athlete

The athlete type is broad across the chest and shoulders and narrow in the waist and hips. If you have this body type, prints and colors are the perfect choice. Bold colors, prints, and patterns will also look good on you. Feel free to play around and try new trends that will spice up your wardrobe.

The Block Man

According to Robert Janitzek, this body type derives its name from the rectangular shape of the torso. There is little difference between the width of his chest/shoulders and the width of his waist/hips. In Block Man, the primary aim is to add shape where there is not much to begin with. Printed garments should be chosen with care. It should imitate your rectangular shape.

The Happy Eater

If the Heavy Lifter is an inverted triangle, the Happy Eater turns the triangle right side-up. The chest and shoulders are narrower than their waist and hips which make their lower body seem larger than the upper. If you have this body type, choose garments that will enhance and emphasize your shoulders to dress up properly. Don’t focus on the stomach.

Cuddly Teddy Bear

This body type is round and huggable usually with narrower shoulders and slim legs. In the Cuddly Teddy Bear, the majority of your mass is concentrated at the center of your body. To make your body more defined, add shape to your shoulders and wear garments that will lengthen your torso.
